IT security system globally seems to be falling apart due to recent flux of cyber attack on Citibank, Sony, Google, Twitter etc. Today, privacy is at stake and conduction of business online is becoming more and more insecure. Now, everyone is asking why isn’t the software development process is upgraded to fill security gaps and make system more secure and hack proof?

To aggravate dilemma further not a single software development company giant came to dais to strongly convey the message of warning to hackers and at the same time, take a much required step to initiate research and development on testing and post implementation of software development process. Meanwhile, in this situation, users are at the receiving ends, who’re suffering the most.

According to an analysis, hackers usually don’t penetrate software rather take advantage of common known flaws in software. More shocking is that these flaws and loopholes in software system could be averted or rectified with the help of robust testing, review and post-implementation software development process. Apparently, this conveys message of deliberate victimization contrary to active and problem solving image of a software development company.

Some software security vulnerabilities are increasing due to easy access to scanning software to hackers that can scan through to catch minute loopholes in coding. Developers aren’t convicts for flaws in software development company but it is the testers who’re blameworthy as robust testing procedure is the missing link that need urgent attention. Otherwise, any software or IT architecture will be destined to be attacked and paralyzed forever at some point in time.

However, to some extent all blame cannot be put upon solely on software developers and testers to some degree buyers and clients also have responsibility to this. Due to outsourcing, it has become easier to get low-cost IT solutions but nowadays, clients and buyers often press for further cost reduction, thus leading to inferior quality leaving gaping security chasms in software. They don’t understand if their software gets infected by attack then their software could work against them or maybe destroy their company IT architecture or sabotage business altogether, that means it will cost more than development cost of software. In simple words, vulnerable software could lead to irreversible huge losses despite that it may have cost you less for development.

Solution to hacking problem is easy, though a software cannot be made fully hack-proof, but still hacking could be minimized substantially only if both buyers and vendors come to a common platform and discuss about such problems openly. A global platform like World Developers Conference should be used to spread awareness about software development process and how developer or buyer could tackle this threat intelligently.

Meanwhile, no one is willing to take strong position largely due to competition in market. Because of this hackers are left amok to carry out bigger and better high-profile cyber attacks. And recent successful attacks on Citibank and Sony that plagued their system, and eventually millions of users had to suffer, has only encouraged hackers more world over.
