Solar Geysers In Cape Town
Written by Klint Munton
Looking at the electrical items in one's home, we examine the use and cost of the items we use consistently. Electricity has become very expensive lately and it is largely due to the cost and upkeep of power stations, which supply our electricity to our homes. Most of our electrical items in our home are not that expensive to use, they don't utilize a lot of current, but there is one item in our homes that we are reliant on, on a daily basis and it is the geyser. The geyser, unfortunately, draws a lot of current and in turn utilizes plenty of electricity, hence the high electricity bill at the end of the month.
There is a solution and it is called the solar geyser. It is by far the most economical means of decreasing those electrical bills. Not only will you be saving an enormous amount of money and electricity but you will be doing the environment a favor as well.
How the solar geyser works is as follows; it collects and stores energy from the sun and this energy is translated into heating the water up inside the solar geyser aswell as keeping it warm. A solar water heater consists mainly of three parts, a solar collector, a transfer medium and the storage container. The solar collector is responsible for collecting the sun's energy through the suns' rays.
The transfer medium either consists of a direct solar water heater system, this is just water and in an indirect system it is a mixture of water and glycol, which is used to prevent the water from freezing in cold temperatures. The storage container is insulated and therefore is responsible for controlling the temperature of the water. The solar geyser's storage container is larger than the conventional geyser and therefore increases the containers heat retention.
Installing the solar geyser: the storage containers can be mounted vertically or horizontally onto your house's roof. It has been tested and the vertical position is recommended for best possible energy absorption from the sun.
The solar geyser is most assuredly an investment purchase as it reduces electricity usage, thus saving you money and the fact that it is environment friendly is a huge factor. Saving our country's natural resources is a big factor.
