The SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission of India every year, with the purpose of recruiting eligible candidates for various non-gazette and non-technical posts in different Government of India ministries and departments. The exam pattern is somewhat similar to that of other SSC recruitment examinations, and can be applied through offline application or online as well. The application fee is specified for a sum of Rs.100 to be remitted via the State Bank of India in case of online application, and through CRFS for offline application. For any post applied, the age limit to qualify for CGL examination is 18-27 years. However, specific relaxations are applicable for the reserved category on submission of authentic proof for the same. The educational qualification required for SSC Combined Graduate Level Examination is graduation from a recognized university in any discipline. This criterion includes Mathematics/Statistics/Commerce/Economics as a subject in graduation, if the candidate has applied for the position of Statistical Investigator GR.III. One can easily apply offline via approved application format and send it to the SSC Regional Director within the last date of application receipt. The CGL examination is conducted in three important levels: Preliminary examination, Main examination, and Personality Test or Interview. The exam questions in the preliminary round are objective in nature, comprising of 50 questions for each of the four sets of General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English language. The duration of this test is 2 hours with 50 marks for each set. The main examination includes objective questions on the subjects English Language and Comprehension, Arithmetical Ability, and Statistics. Each subject carries 200 marks for total time duration of 2 hours. SSC exam question papers for the CGL examination consist of both English and Hindi language, expect the section of English language. Only the candidates qualifying in both these levels of written examination can appear for Personality Test or Interview.

For general awareness, areas of importance are history, geography, culture, and scientific research.
