Staph is a short form of staphylococcus, a bacterium notorious for its contagious diseases having wide-spread and sweeping symptoms. This bacterium is cocci (spherical) and is often seen in the form of colonies. Staphylococcus aureus is the pathogen responsible for various infections in the bodies of not only humans but also animals thus the infections are named staphylococcus infections or staph infection. This bacterium is responsible for residing on the surface areas of the host like skin. As the word parasite or pathogen clearly states that the host has to be infected or damaged by the invader named so and so the damage dealt to the host is visible in the form of fever, wounds, coughs, chills, less blood pressure and several other signs. This bacterium is sneaky enough to gain entry into the body through small apertures usually made by fractures, cuts, bruises, exposure of epidermal tissues due to trauma or injury. The people who are more susceptible to the infection of this very pathogen are the ones who already have low immunity and suffer from diarrhea, cancer or diabetes. People experiencing chronic sickness or several skin conditions are vulnerable to the infection. Newbo
s, elderly aged figures, breastfeeding women or people who have a weak immune system due to HIV, steroid usage, radiotherapy, cancer treatment or immunosuppressive medications are most likely to catch a staph infectio

Staph Infection symptoms of staphylococcus infection are mild in the beginning but with the passage of time they appear acute and more dangerous. The symptoms that are usually seen in the patients suffering from infection are long lasting fever, cold sensations, and low blood pressure along with fits of coughing. The transmission of the pathogen is quite easy as explained earlier that the disease caused by this pathogen is contagious and can be transmitted when a patient shakes the head, sneezes or coughs near people. Any type of contact is strictly asked to be avoided by the patient when near other people. Symptoms that follow preliminary signs include severe headache, weakness, lethargic appearance, sensation of discomfort, dizziness. Pus formation boils or furuncle with several lesions and bruises are seen on the patient having a staph infection. The skin becomes fleshy red and swells sending pain through the body.

Several dangerous skin infections are caused by staphylococcus including Folliculitis, Boils, Styes, Impetigo and Abscesses. A person suffers from folliculitis when staph, residing on the skin, causes hair follicles and cells to be infected in such a way that itchy bumps filled with pus are formed. This disease usually infects shaving areas or sensitive glabrous skin. Boils, in which penetration of the infection is so deep that it causes inflammation with red skin, and Styes, in which follicles of the eyelashes are infected in such a way that red outgrowths and bumps in the eyelid are formed depicting clear propagation of skin, are common disease caused by the staphylococcus. Staph infections are also responsible for the world wide food poisoning due to several toxins that are secreted by the bacteria for pathogenicity and toxicity purposes.
