Step off the Beaten Path

We come into this world so innocent and trusting. As a baby we know only how to be. In each moment we express what we are feeling. We do not question it or wonder if it is right. As we begin this journey we express our natural gifts and talents from our innocence.

All too soon the outside world begins to influence us in ways that shape who we become and what we express. Those who love us, whom we trust, say and do things from a place of not knowing, a place of believing they are protecting us from life itself. They teach us to conform, for in conforming we fit in, we will not be separated out. They believe it is for our highest good. We begin to question our natural abilities, our natural way of being. We test what is acceptable behavior and what is not. All too soon we begin to conform. If we do this, we are loved… if we do that, we are not. The world seems black and white to the mind of a child. Through this system of punishment and reward we begin to deny ourselves and to act as we are being taught instead. We begin to shut down those parts of us, those expression of who we really are, so that we will feel loved and accepted.

Throughout our school years we are trained further to deny our true selves, our true identity and to conform; to fit into the mold.

The world has been set up to follow a beaten path. A circle, where not much changes, history repeats itself; people are asleep and unaware they are being led. Having been taught not stray, not to step to far off of the path.
This is not the path of living life rather it is the path of moving through life as though a robot in a dazed slumber. Let us begin today… to create a new world acceptance … A world that accepts our differences, that honors our truth and trusts us to create our own path.

A better world is waiting for us. As each one of us steps into our own and shares our gifts and talents, we will experience a more peaceful life. A life full of promise, of hope, of equality. We will no longer need to compete as we will honor the strength that each of us has, the journey that each of us takes. We will know how important each person is to the whole. And that the world can only overcome its challenges by us owning our truth.
I trust our paths will cross as we each venture into new territory. Seeing the world as if for the first time.
