Strawberries Show Promise for Cancer Prevention
Written by Dr. Isaac Eliaz
Modern medicine has always derived the raw materials for pharmaceutical drugs from nature, as nature provides delicate yet powerful ingredients for balance and wellness. Time and time again, be it academic researchers and scientists, or herbalists and medicine men, people discover a simple yet complex compound, found in something so common as a flower or vegetable, that creates the next novel prescription for health. Researchers from Ohio State University conducted a preliminary study which revealed that strawberries may actually prevent and slow cancer from growing in the esophagus.
After learning of successful animal studies that showed the benefits of strawberries, Tong Chen, the study's lead researcher, decided to test the theory on people. The study analyzed the use of freeze-dried strawberries in 36 men and women who had esophageal cancer. Freeze-dried strawberries were used in place of fresh ones because they contain higher amounts of beneficial flavonols and phytochemicals, and are about 10 times as concentrated as fresh strawberries. The results showed a decrease and a slowing in the growth of cancer cells in the esophagus in 29 out of 36 participants. Dr. Chen and her team do not know the exact compound in strawberries that fights cancer cells, but they are eager to conduct more studies.
In 1829, scientists discovered a compound called salicin from the bark of the willow tree, which led to the invention of aspirin. This discovery changed how people deal with pain. Today, more sophisticated drugs are being developed to combat serious conditions. One of the most important health problems of our time is maintaining proper cellular health as we age, and fortunately, researchers have found that nature provides a solution for this in the peel of ordinary citrus fruits. Researchers discovered that by reducing the size of the pectin molecules, they could enter the bloodstream and bind to abnormal cells. Modified citrus pectin that is readily and effectively absorbed into the bloodstream can actively promote cellular health. Collaboration with nature’s perfect ingredients provides scientists the foundation to discover effective solutions for optimal health. Respiratory Infections and Pollution Effects - Causes, Symptoms & Prevention Tips
Abstract Respiratory infections are becoming increasingly common, and one of the major contributing factors is the rise in air pollution. Polluted air contains harmful particles, chemicals, and toxins that weaken the lungs and reduce the body’s natural defense mechanisms. As air quality worsens in cities, people of all age groups are experiencing more frequent coughing, breathing difficulties, allergies, and long-term respiratory diseases. How Pollution Increases Respirator

Why Barometric Pressure Triggers Headaches - Causes, Symptoms & Prevention Tips
Many people notice that their headaches or migraines worsen when the weather changes. One of the most common culprits is barometric pressure, also known as atmospheric pressure. This pressure refers to the weight of the air around us, and even small shifts can affect sensitive individuals, often leading to headaches, sinus pressure, or migraines. What Happens When Barometric Pressure Drops? A drop in barometric pressure is common before storms, rainfall, or sudden weather c

Research of Cell Membrane Nano Drug Delivery System and Its Application in Bionic Nanomedicine
Most of the old drugs are currently limited in their effectiveness because of poor pharmacokinetics, simple clearance by the body and cytotoxicity. Nanoparticle technology in particular, Nano drug delivery system is getting a lot of attention and application in medicine in the recent years. Since it is small (1100nm), targets well, and stays in the circulation long enough, NPs are a good candidate as a drug carrier, enabling an enhanced in vivo targeting capability and less n

Research on Regulating cAMP Pathway to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
The world's chronic disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), is among the most incredibly morbid and mortal. A relatively common, preventable and curable condition, COPD most often reflects itself in chronic breathing problems and airway obstruction. Its cause is elusive and not well understood. The most important pathological processes involve oxidative stress, protease dysfunction, mitochondrial dysfunction and airway inflammation. Drug and oxygen treatment ar
