Striking A Balance To Keep Stress At Bay
Written by Ramil Morla
If you think stress is a big factor in your life and you want to try and reduce as much of it as you can, then you've come to the right place. The thing about stress is that you have to learn how to manage it in various ways, go through the tips in this article and find what can work for you in reducing stress.
Stretch out. As you go throughout your day, your muscles naturally tighten even if you aren't stressed. So it's a great idea to keep them loose by doing some stretches. Stretching also encourages deep abdominal breathing, which will calm you. You can do simple or complex stretches. Any stretching you can do throughout the day helps you to feel relaxed.
Next time you feel stressed and want to give up, do the opposite. Fighting through stress by being proactive, is an important step to controlling the situation. When you are passive about the the situation, you can easily develop a growing level of helplessness, which will only add more stress to your plate. Get in front of the situation.
Instead of just thinking about how you can lower stress, write your thoughts out. Develop two lists for yourself: one that covers stresses you may have the ability to control and one that lists stressors out of your hands. Let go of the stresses that you can't control and concentrate on the list of stressors that you can change.
Try putting yourself in other people's shoes. Perhaps you are stressed from the way someone else is acting, making choices, or causing grief in your life. The easy thing to do is to get upset with them or stay away from them. However, it is much harder to actually try and understand them so that you can come to some sort of understanding between the two of you.
Regular exercise is a great stress reducer. Take up walking, jogging, swimming, bicycling, aerobics or dancing. When you exercise, your body produces endorphins that help to elevate your mood. These endorphins also act as natural pain killers, thus reducing the stress that chronic pain can bring. Add regular exercise to your routine, and watch your stress melt away.
Making a plan can really help you to reduce your stress and anxiety. Many people are overwhelmed with anxiety because they try to fit too much into one day. If you make a plan for what you want to be done everyday, it can help to reduce the amount of anxiety you experience.
Try giving whatever is bothering you a number on a scale from one to ten, where one is a minor bump and ten is the end of the world. You'll probably find that most of your daily problems are no more than a five. In other words, they're not worth getting upset about.
The tips you have just read will only help you if you're pro-active and put them to use in your daily life. Take the information from this article and do your best to apply it to your life in order to achieve reduced stress levels.
