Mistakes are a part and parcel of life. We all make mistakes at one point of time or the other. It is through mistakes that we learn and grow. The same holds true for marketers. They make some of the silliest mistakes that hamper their sales. The first step to avoiding these mistakes is actually to know what they are. Lack of knowledge and understanding can lead you into doing things that you actually think are good for your business.
Listed here are some silly mistakes that many marketers make. Understand them and make sure you don’t do the same.

Single Messager
Many marketers are under the impression that sending the same message over and over to a customer will eventually cause the customer to give in and agree. That is actually far from truth. Customers will believe your messages only when they speak to them personally.

Not Listeningr
You should always listen more than you talk. Talking about your product to your customer will not help you. Listening to their needs and adapting accordingly will definitely help. Many marketers make this mistake. They think that they are not able to sell because the customers don’t know of their products. They are actually not able to sell because customers don’t want to know. They want to speak.

Relying on Brochuresr
Don’t fool yourself by thinking that your customers will go through your brochures. The brochures, no matter how glossy and attractive, will go into the waste pile without so much as being scanned. Don’t even bother with brochures.

Flattering yourselfr
Many, you will actually be shocked when you know how many, marketers think that their marketing plans are highly strategic and they don’t even need to measure them. Such flattery will ruin your business.

You SHOULD measure your activities to know if they are working. If they aren’t, you should change them or tweak them accordingly. Not measuring them won’t help you at all.

Advertising Negativelyr
This is another extremely poor strategy of marketing. Do you really think that throwing your competitors in bad light through your advertisements will help you? Customers are not dumb. They know that the company you attacked is actually a frontrunner. Don’t be surprised if your competitor’s sales increase and your stay where they were after your ad campaign.

Spreading Wisdomr
Unless you have being in the sales team before, unless you have been selling for a while, you can’t tell the salespeople what to do. They are more experienced than you are and they know how to do the job. Don’t assume that you know everything.

Lastly, don’t blame your salespeople if your product doesn’t sell. It may be because of the aforementioned reasons.

Avoid these mistakes and you will see a surge in your sales over time.

Entrepreneurial Learningr
Advertising and marketing are no piece of cake. They take a lot of planning and effort to be successful. In order to market your product well, you should avoid some silly mistakes, which are sadly very common. Don’t rely on self-flattery and negative advertising. Don’t assume that you know what the customer wants. Also, listen to your customers’ needs.
