Who wouldn’t want a Yash Chopra Romance of their own? For all the sappy romantics everywhere, Switzerland tourism brings the perfect way to turn this fantasy into reality! Bollywood is deep-rooted in the culture of India, a country where cinema is an integral part of the psyche of its people. It comes as no surprise then that Indian tourists remain in awe of Bollwood’s top destination – Swtizerland. The Raj Kapoor and Vyjayantimala starrer Sangam showcased beautiful Swiss locales, where the storyline has the couple staying at theGrand Hotel Giessbach for their honeymoon! A great part of the hotel has been renovated since, though it remains no less gorgeous than it was before. Also, Trummelbach Falls is the spot where all three lead actors meet in the movie. The stunning locales of the Swiss countryside have thus been an age-old Bollywood fascination. The alpine meadows, the sparkling lakes and the charming towns of Switzerland are a dreamy blend of sunshine, snow and beauty. You may have seen your favourite filmstars giggle and enage in snowfight, or ski down the Swiss slopes with smiles and songs on their lips, or profess undying love for each other against the backdrop of pristine White Mountains. Switzerland tour packages are such that they make it possible for creatures of the non-filmy sort to attempt living out these movies scenes too! In the small town of Montbovon stand two churches. Indians will prefer calling them ‘DDLJ’ churches. The steeple of one is so distinct that movie buffs will remember it from the classic Dil wale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, while shots of the two lovers praying showcase the interior of the Church of St. Grat. The star presence itself is reason enough to visit these locations and feel, for just a short while, like Raj and Simran! Gstaad is another popular town that Bollywood has made famous, with a certain chocolate shop here called Early Beck Shop featuring not only in DDLJ but also in the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Bachna Ae Haseeno. The Gstaad Promenade features in both films as well. Surely no further motivation is needed for you to look through tour packages for Switzerland and book one for a romantic holiday! The highlight of a Switzerland trip Bollywood style of course, is the famous Chopra Lake. Named by Swiss officials in honour of legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra, the Chopra Lake’s real name is Alpenrausch, though apparently even the locals refer to it as the Chopra Lake! Interestingly, this location has not featured in any Bollwood work yet. So take time off, give yourself this little break and let Switzerland Tourism help you create a love story of your own and bring celluloid to life!
