Every day we wake up is a new day. It is a new opportunity. We have choices to make today and we have work which needs to be completed. We can choose to use the day constructively or we can make the decision to just do what we need to do to get by. We can go through the day mindlessly without thinking about doing anything in particular or we can decide to work on purpose.

Our days add up quickly and our days are numbered. We don’t have too much time to waste. Soon we will look back and wonder where it all went. We will wonder why we didn’t spend more time with our family. We will wonder why we weren’t kinder to strangers. We will wonder why we were so worried all through life about what others thought rather than what God thought and what God wanted us to do.

Psalm 118:24 “This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it.”

The Bible doesn’t say the Lord only made some of the days. He made all the days. We are to rejoice in all the days. We are to be glad we have them and use them working toward the goals God gave us. It is easy to get frustrated with the issues in our lives. It is easy to find fault and give up; however, we don’t have time to give up. We must continuously strive for the goal God has put before us.

Philippians 3:14 “I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.”

Great things have never been done instantaneously. God has a plan for us to do great things but it will take time. It will take consistency. That is why we need to know what plans He has for us and work toward those plans but we need to focus on today. We need to do today all we can to be ready. We don’t need to worry about tomorrow. God will help us with tomorrow when it comes.

Matthew 6:34 ““So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

We need to take today and use it wisely. It is a gift from God. We need to work for Him today as if it were our last day. We need to spend time with our loved ones. We need to take time to get to know God better. We need to share His word with others. We need to look for opportunities to help others. We can have a day filled with doing what God wants us to do or we can do nothing. The choice is ours.

We need to decide right now how we are going to spend this day. Are we going to do what we want to do or what God wants us to do? Are we going to look for ways to help or are we going to stay focused only on our needs? Are we going to make today a part of reaching the goals God wants us to reach or will let this one day slip by without doing anything? We need to take this day and make it a day of serving God and pressing forward toward God’s goal so we can make a difference.
