I am a woman who historically has not taken care of me because my family has always come first. I did not believe the “well” would ever run dry. I believed I was a super Mom, Wife, Sister, Friend, Neighbor, Cheer Leader, Teacher, Specialist, Taxi Driver and every other person I could divide myself and time into. We as individuals generally make this the mistake. I honestly believe this to be true and believe this is a big mistake.
When do we take time for us? How are we supposed to take care of ourselves? What should we do to correct the situation? Our lives are changing as we get older and now perhaps with a twinge of regret, we are wondering where we went. We are wondering why we abandoned ourselves. How do we fix ourselves without causing an earthquake in the rest of our life? How do we fix us without disrupting the lives all of the individuals we have cared for all of these years past? I do not believe there is a quick fix. I believe how we approach this situation will not be easy.
So this is what I am doing because this is the situation I find myself in. First and foremost admit there is a problem so we can find the solution. If you do not admit to yourself and others there is a problem, you can not fix what you do not perceive to be broken.
Second, I believe a heart to heart talk is in order with all of the individuals you have loved and cherished all of these years. After all, it will be up to them to they believe you are the one who needs the love, sharing and holding now. Basically these are the individuals who will have to be willing to take care of you while allowing you the time to repair yourself and heal yourself and grow. We can no longer take a back seat to everyone else in our life. Time and more time will be the most important issue in your life.
Journaling is helping me as I am able to sort out what I am feeling and why I am feeling it. I work differently by writing instead of just thinking. When I sit and think, I tend to get lost in the why. When I write, I find the answers thru a process of explanations. I propose a question and write down several different answers and sort thru them until I realize the one or combination of answers which explains why I am feeling the way I do.
I believe what ever your decision is only you who can repair it. Another item of help is reading books that empower you. I have read, “The Secret” and “The Power” both by Rhonda Byrne. “Chicken Soup for The Soul” by Jack Canfield & Mark Victor Hansen is another wonderful series of books to inspire you to a new level of thinking. Find a book that feels good for you. Read it, feel it and grow from it. Find a book that connects with your heart.
As you go through the thinking process please remember to maintain your health. You will need your strength as well as your heart. Taking the proper nutrients will be an absolute must for you. Make sure you take your supplements on a daily basis. Stress can manifest in your body in so many ways. Protect yourself in every way you can.
Find yourself and grow from this day forward. You can not change the past, you can only write a future you will want to share with those you love. I find strength in being a part of a wonderful family who is now sharing and caring for each other in very healthy ways. May you find the same wonderful experience and fill it with love, kindness and understanding
My belief is to make a difference in the way women view themselves and those around them. I am a wife and mother of three beautiful daughters. Believe in maintenance for individuals seeking to better their life for themselves and all around them.
