Written by Andrew Decosta
What is the first thing you do when you meet someone you know? Or even on your first meet? A smile I guess?
Have you ever thought what is going to happen if he or she comes across your yellow stained teeth on that day itself?
It will create a worst impression on the very first day… right?
Now, if you already have stained teeth, there are ways too, to get rid of the stains. You can use teeth whitening kits. There are various forms of Whitening kits, from where you can chose the one that suits you. If you want to do it all by yourself, be very careful while choosing, as the gums are to be protected, otherwise the chemical content may cause itchiness, discomfort, and can end up by burning your gums.
FORMS OF WHITENING KITS –
There are various forms of teeth whitening kits like – gels, pens, toothpaste, syringe, gloss, trays, and foam. Foam is one of the safest ways for the beginners. It comes as whitening and cleaning product. You need to brush with the whitening product and then swish with the foaming one. This will clear off even those back teeth which brush cannot. Moreover the peroxide content is very little; hence not create any gum-damage. However, this is not appropriate for the heavy satins.
For heavy stains strong use of peroxide (around 22%) is recommended. But, you must be very conscious of your gum while using hydrogen or carbamide peroxide in high concentration.
Laser or LED treatment is a new form for whitening teeth; the high focus of rays activates the peroxide element. This activation helps in faster absorption of peroxide, hence reducing the treatment duration. Laser treatment can be done under specialist’s supervision or even at home. Though applications at home are quite easy, but cover your eyes, so that the laser beams do not get focused in your eyes. Otherwise your eyes can get damaged.
TAKE CARE OF YOUR TEETH –
If you develop stain, you can clear it off with the help of whitening products. But what if you develop cavity? The only option that will remain open to you is to uproot your teeth.

Daily care -
• Swish your mouth with lukewarm water. Brush properly using a SEMI-SOFT (for female) or HARD (for male) brush. Brush for at least 1 minute.
• Use floss or any mouthwash of your choice.
• Use clove oil or tea tree oil using toothpick (wrap the toothpick with clear cotton wool, making the cover bit thick at its head). You can apply this in your gum, it will prevent the cavity formation.
Long term care –
Manage getting a day, fix appointment with a good dentist (at least twice a year) and go for a regular checkup. This is to be followed even you are not having any dental problems. Never wait for “something happen”. That time it will be too late for you, and a total cure will not be possible.
