Ten Tips For Losing Belly Fat
Written by Mark C. Miller
If you want a flat stomach, there are certain things you must do with your nutrition and exercise program.
Getting a flat belly doesn't just happen unless you make it happen.
Here are some quick and easy things you can do, each day to speed up the process of losing belly fat.
1. Make the firm commitment that you're actually going to do this. You need to take action, each and every day, in order to start seeing a flat stomach.
So before you do anything else, you have to make the decision that you'll do what it takes to get results.
All other steps are pointless if you're not willing to make the commitment to losing belly fat.
2. Start writing down your daily calorie totals, so you can see what you're eating.
This is another huge part of getting a flat stomach. If you're constantly eating more calories than you're burning off each day, you won't lose belly fat.
Often times, we don't know how many calories we're eating each day. So start writing down all your meals and the calories for each.
Then, at the end of the day, total them up and see how close you are to your daily calorie needs.
There are a lot of programs online that will show you how to find your daily calorie needs in order to get a flat stomach.
You'll want to log your food EVERYDAY for 8 to 12 weeks.
If you log your daily calorie totals and start to see where you can reduce them each day, you'll start to lose belly fat.
3. Eat 5 or 6 times a day, including protein every time AND always withi
30 minutes of finishing your workout. If you eat every 2 to 3 hours, you'll never get overly hungry.
Also, eating this often will increase your metabolism so you can speed up the rate in which you burn calories and fat.
4. Drink plenty of water. Water is used in all physical processes in the body, so you want to make sure you get enough so you're the healthiest you can be. You can live for weeks without food, but only days without water.
Try to drink a gallon of clean water each day.
5. Eat the proper amount of calories and NOT less. Many fad diets simply try to starve you into getting a flat stomach.
That simply doesn't work long term.
If you eat too few calories, you'll just slow down your metabolism and stop all fat loss from happening.
For women, you never want to go below 1,000 a day and men should never go below 1,300 per day.
Drastically reducing your daily calories will not speed up your chances of getting a flat stomach, it will only cause more problems in the long run.
6. Reduce your alcohol consumption. In order to process the toxins produced by alcohol, the liver will STOP doing things advantageous to weight loss.
Not only that, but most alcoholic drinks are very high in calories, so you're getting a double whammy. Alcohol can slow down your metabolism WHILE it adds a lot of empty calories.
7. Avoid refined, processed carbohydrates like white pasta, white bread, white rice, candy, sugar, and any other highly processed foods.
The carbs from these foods enter the bloodstream almost instantly and will cause a spike in blood sugar levels, insulin release, and glucagon release... causing the extra calories to be stored as FAT.
Complex carbs have to be filtered through the liver, so there is much less chance for storage as body fat.
Fruit contains simple sugars. Try not to eat more than one piece of fruit each day when you're trying to lose fat and get a flat belly.
8. Limit your Dairy Intake. Even non-fat milk has a ton of sugar, so try using almond milk or coconut milk, both of which has a lot less calories and sugar.
9. Don’t eat before bed!
Chances are, by this point... you've already eaten your daily calorie totals for the day, so anything else you eat will surely put you over your daily calorie needs.
10. Exercise in order to burn calories and speed up your metabolism.
Getting a flat belly has more to do with speeding up your metabolism so you're burning calories all day long.
Exercise is simply the best way to do this.
Stay active and attempt to burn at least 200 to 500 calories through exercise 6 days a week.
Whether it's intense cardio, weights, yoga, walking, jogging, swimming, or playing tennis... doing some form of physical exercise will help you speed up your metabolism so that getting a flat belly happens sooner.
