Recycling suddenly takes the spotlight whenever an environmental disaster takes place. Many people start re-advocating recycling passionately because it decreases the need to produce raw materials. Others start promoting recycling as an eco-friendlier business for those wanting to turn trash into cash, because many recycling plants are now a global moneymaking industry. While there is much debate on recycling as a potent source for income, many people wonder what happens to products in recycling centers. For instance, some people who like drinking wines and spirits may wonder what happens to glass products thrown in recycling containers. Some may even wonder if recycling these items do any good at all because people rarely hear about recycled glass on TV or in local shopping malls. It’s a fact of life that TV shows don’t really talk much about recycling until a major environmental disaster happens. Shopping malls may not always make recycling their top priority because it may not sound appealing to mall customers; thus, recycling takes a backseat. However, if you really wish to know more about recycled glass products, here are a few samples of its inevitable recycled fate. Craft products Many people use recycled glass products as decorative pieces for crafts. Some people use colored recycled glass to make key chains, bracelets and earrings. Other people choose to use recycled glass items like bottles and jars and turn these into wind chimes that are useful décor ideas for office or home usage. Tiles Some companies use recycled glass products as raw material for tiles. Colored recycled glass is an ideal material for the tile industry because it saves the company both time and money. Some tile companies use colored recycled glass to make company logos and insignias in buildings and other commercial spaces. Back to square one Some recycled glass products don’t end up becoming a completely different product. Glass containers such as wine bottles, soda bottles, glasses and tumblers end up as similar products, especially when the manufacturer has its own recycling plant. This gives the manufacturer a chance to save money and to do their part for the environment, because the company can save energy in production.
