The Best Season Safari in Tanzania?
Written by Chris Martin
Africa is full of wild places, but there are few countries that can rival the wilderness and wildlife, Tanzania offers a combination. However, the seasons in Tanzania are very different, so when exactly is the best time to enjoy a safari in Tanzania?
If your primary goal is to see a large number of animals, then the easiest time to do this is betwee
June and October - Tanzania's dry season. This is especially true in the South of Tanzania, Tanzania Katav western mountains also Mahal Ruaha and Selous in Tanganyika, while in June and early July, chimpanzees can still be high in the mountains.
Still Ngorongoro Crater Highlands can be full of flowers in June and July, but be prepared for changeable temperatures. It can often be cold with a low cloud during these months. Tarangire in northern Tanzania, which acts as a dry season refuge wildlife from around the Maasai Steppe is the best game between late July and late October. But it's always good for the elephant and the green season (December to May), has tremendous birdlife.
Serengeti National Park and the surrounding area offers spectacular game viewing all year round, giving them a little differently. What is important here is that you head to the right part of the park from the time of the year, and that you avoid the main tourist traps.
If the wildebeest migration is a key objective, it is certainly not "the best time to visit. River crossings take place betwee
July and October the Mara or Grumeti River and at calving, one of the most spectacular times to visit is around February. Game action remains excellent, in March and April, before the wildebeest begin to move, the smoothness of a rut in mid-May.
If you are traveling from December to May, and then combining the Serengeti Plains and the southern Serengeti Loliondo is particularly important. Loliondo is a must if you are interested in walking, night driving and more wilderness experience.
Plateau area, you will find elephants, lions, hunting dogs and buffalo, although not as much as some other parks in Tanzania. Birds are also good here, but in fact the park is seen as one of Africa's most important bird sanctuaries. Scientists have recently come across at least four previously unknown species of birds. Best time to visit is during the dry season from June to October. Hiking trails during the wet season is slippery, which can be quite a nuisance.
Most people tend to forget the green in Southern and Western Tanzania season months, from December to the end of February can be a great time to visit. Selous can become quite wet January and February, which makes it less well exceed hiking safaris, but everything is green and there are plenty of young animals and migratory birds around. Bush closed to Ruaha game a bit less easy to see, in some areas, but still a good game around. Water levels began to rise Katav and you may encounter at such large concentrations of animals, but as long as you do not rush things, it is much more benign season to be there and there's plenty to see.
