Today the billions of dollars spent on surgery is a real hoax. Many times a person’s illness can be solved without surgery. So many unnecessary surgeries have even been called an epidemic. Many surgeries have even maimed or killed patients. There have been stories of doctors even mistakenly operating on the wrong person or body part.

There have been surgeries that are not only unnecessary, but extremely expensive, stressful and dangerous as well. What these surgeries really do is make many doctors rich but they also raise health care and many times don’t solve a patients’ problem.

Here are some of the most familiar surgeries:

• Knee Surgery

It has been estimated that 12% of Americans age 65 and over has osteoarthritis of the knee. Arthroscopic surgery for this osteoarthritis procedure is performed on about 650,000 people in the U.S. every year, at a cost of about $5000 per procedure, for a total cost of 3.3 billion dollars every year.

There are other types of knee operations too but still most of them can be solved without surgery. A gently massage technique from Australia called NST has been highly effective for nearly all knee problems, including traumatic injury. This NST procedure helps the body actually repair and recover the damaged tissue.

• Hysterectomy

It is well known that many hysterectomies are unnecessary. Over half of them are done for uterine fibroids. This procedure is usually done due to estrogen excess, which can be balanced by a number of simple strategies including such as:

Regulate your diet so you lower your insulin levels which cause estrogen excess to increase. Following a proper diet is one of the best ways to rebalance your hormonal system.

Use natural progesterone while your system is rebalancing. It’s best to avoid the cream unless you plan on monitoring your levels by saliva testing.

• Appendectomy

An appendectomy can save your life if you need it, but unnecessary surgery is clearly something that’s needs to be avoided. To make sure you have an appendix problem here’s what you need to know.

. You have absolutely no appetite, even for your most favorite food.

. You have pain that started around your belly button and has moved to your lower right abdominal area.

. You have pain when you are jumping up and down. First try gently jumping up and down. First try gently jumping up and down. If that doesn’t cause pain, try jumping even higher. This will move your peritoneal cavity. If it is irritated with an inflamed appendix, you will be in terrible pain.

However before you agree to surgery, make sure the doctor does some type of imaging study such as a CT scan of Ultrasound to determine if it really an appendix problem.
There are other problems that can mimic appendicitis such as:

• Diverticulitis

Diverticulitis is a small out pouching of the small intestine which usually is located in the right lower abdomen near the appendix. The diverticulitis may become inflamed or even perforated. If it is it is usually removed surgically.

• Pelvic inflammatory disease

The right fallopian tube and the ovary lie near the appendix. Sexually active women may contact infections diseases that involve the tube and ovary. Usually antibiotic therapy is sufficient treatment.

• Inflammatory disease of the right upper abdomen.

Fluids from the right upper abdomen may drain into the lower abdomen where they stimulate inflammation and minis appendicitis.

• right sided diverticulitis

Although most diverticula are located on the left side of the colon, they occasionally occur of the right side. When a right sided diverticulum ruptures it can provoke inflammation that mimics appendicitis.

• Kidney disease

The right kidney is close enough to the appendix that inflammatory problems in the kidney, for example, an abscess can mimic appendicitis.
