Varanasi is popularly known as the cultural city of India. Here you can see every piece of Indian art. Mainly associated with Hinduism and Buddhism, it provides shelter to many religious beliefs. To see the primitive worship cults, it is the best place. Being the oldest living city, it has glorious temples, ancient ghats and many other spiritual spots where you can visit to heighten your spiritual fervour. Religious Spotsr
The city has many temples and religious spots. Some of the prominent names are Sankat Mochan Temple, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Bharat Mata Temple and Monkey Temple. All of them showcase exquisite art and marvellous architecture. Another notable structure is the Alamgir Mosque, which reflects a great blend of the Mughal and the Hindu architecture. Located by the Panchganga Ghat, it is a famous spot in the city.
Ghatsr
As the city is on the banks of the Ganges River, there are many famous ghats. The most renowned ghat of the city is Dashashwamedh Ghat. Before offering prayers in the temples, it is auspicious to take a holy dip in the ghat. During any religious festival or any such occasion, the ghat gets over-crowded. Several other important ghats include names like Asi Ghat, Chaumsathi Ghat, Tulsi Ghat, Manika
ika Ghat, Kedar Ghat, Harishchandra Ghat, Hanuman Ghat and Panchganga Ghat.
BHU
The BHU or Banaras Hindu University is a must visit tourist attraction here. It is the finest example of art and culture in the city. This old university spreads across a large area and is among the most esteemed universities of India. Inside the university, there is Bharat Kala Bhavan that houses exclusive paintings, photographs, textile and sculptures.
Boat Rider
The city also offers you the opportunity to enjoy an early morning boat ride at Ganges. Starting from Dashashwamedh Ghat, it takes you to the Manika
ika Ghat, Munshi Ghat and other such spots. The spectacular view of lighted candles floating on banana leaves will leave you mesmerized. You can also see the people taking dip in the Ganga which heightens the spirituality in you. While on boat ride, you can catch the best glimpses of tradition and spirituality of the city.
