I have called my book "The Great Field", and it has won the Book Award in the US for 2008. It is an investigation into the nature of the universe and its implications for the human psyche and the soul.

As a transpersonal psychotherapist my intention is to investigate the nature of the energy that pervades the universe, and the place of our soul in it. The definitions of energy and of soul come from direct therapeutic experience with thousands of clients who have shown that they are the key ingredients in successful therapy.

To understand why, and how to best work with the human psyche, I have examined how fields of energy form the foundation of the universe. The Quantum Theory and the Genome Project, and a thousand scientific experiments have demonstrated that a universe of energy exists within the material world of our senses. I call it the Great Field, while others refer to it as the Void, the Ground of Being, the Superimplicate order and so on. It is an information-rich cosmos without space nor time that explains how homeopathy and holographs are possible, how cells send signals to every part of the body with no lag in time, and how the heart and the brain can act as one.

This is the first time that a therapeutic understanding of the psyche has been used, in reverse, to determine how the universe works. The importance for therapy is that it broadens the more common view that behaviour can be modified just by talking. It makes clear that therapy is one of the roads to enlightenment through development of the same internal coherence that operates in the Great Field.
