THE IMPACT OF THE PANDEMIC ON THE CULTURE OF INDIAN START-UPS
Written by GSPU Startup
Sustaining culture in the age of working remotely has been a challenge for businesses in India , and it is even more difficult for young startups in full growth, which usually don't have a formal HR service. Technology start-ups have made a name for themselves among Indian job seekers over the past few years, mainly because they have a flexible work culture and lack of hierarchies. However, the COVID-19 pandemic mitigated many of these aspects of the workplace culture of start-up companies.Since March 2020, most of these companies have moved their employees to home-based work, this, in many cases, means working extended hours. There are no boundaries for the working time of employees. Prior to COVID-19, the workday generally ended for most employees after the office was closed at 8:00 p.m.
However , numerous startups have added staff during the pandemic period , but it was difficult to pass on the corporate culture to new employees. New hires would normally take hints about culture and management style by the close observation of founders and superiors , but the virtual office is not conducive to this. From the point of view of employees, one of the attractions of work among startups is that they can grow faster by contributing to a broad range of projects inside the company, while developing a closer bond with the founders. However, this has not been well reflected in the configuration of remote working.Employee interactions have ended up being primarily transactional.
Certainly, working from home has brought a number of advantages.Productivity has increased in part because staff may have saved time by not commuting.Startups prosper when there is enthusiasm among a group of people for creating something.
