A child’s enthusiasm for the same game can be tiring but as a parent you will have to counter this with new ideas and other games in reserve. Otherwise you may find yourself playing the same game every single day. Other games that tend to be forgotten include jigsaws and other puzzle related games. These can be beneficial as they help children to recognise patterns and it can help later in life with problem solving tasks. These are more mentally stimulating and will give you a break from the physical strains of role-play games. It is completely understandable that you may need a break now and then, and that you will have certain tasks you need to complete during the day, so in these situations using the television as an aid is fine. However, the television should not become the main feature during a child’s day, as time spent with a parent will be more emotionally rewarding and beneficial for the child involved.
