The Law Of Attraction: Work Smarter, Not Harder!
Written by Mary Ayers, PhD
It makes sense to you that if you were to keep thinking the way you’ve always thought that you would keep getting what you’ve always gotten – Right?
So our minds tell us that we need to start “acting” differently and then things will be different only to find that we’re still getting the same thing!
What gives?!
Some people think they need to do MORE of what they’ve been doing – in other words, work harder!
But doing MORE of what hasn’t worked, or worse, doing more and holding the same belief spells frustration, overwhelm and eventually hopelessness and a litany of self-doubt and skepticism “See this stuff doesn’t work” or you may have found yourself saying “This doesn’t work for me”.”
Acting differently alone isn’t going to be effective if the thoughts underlying our actions are still the same!
So how do you change the underlying beliefs that are getting in the way especially since most of our beliefs are embedded in at levels we aren’t even aware of?
Good question, especially since many say that awareness is the first step in change.
I’ll make the assumption that if you’re reading this you probably have some awareness that there are a few beliefs that have kept you from taking several of the consistent actions you need to reach your goals.
Maybe you have an underlying belief, or theory about what is getting in the way gets in the way of you having your desires and goals. Do any of these fit for you?
“Maybe it just isn’t meant to be.”
“I don’t have the time.”
“I’m a procrastinator.”
Well you would be wrong!
Those excuses are just the smoke-screen and stories you’ve build up to hide the real fears that are really holding you back. You need to dig a little deeper to find what’s behind the smoke.
Take a few minutes to ponder these questions if you really want to find out what’s getting in your way:
1. What’s the value of not getting over this problem?
2. What are the possible consequences of getting over this problem?
3. What happened the last time you had success?
4. How would you spend your time if you no longer had this as a problem?
I bet when you answered these questions you probably found that there was something - some belief - that if you were “successful” there would be some kind of pain, or threat, to you or to others in your life. The excuses you use are really just the story you came up with to protect yourself or others from the predicted pain.
Here’s the deal, you can’t just push HARDER against beliefs you have that are designed to protect you. You put them there for a reason and although that reason might have been established at a time in your life when it made sense (like when you were 10 years old!) it is still running your life now. Saying it from the perspective of the Law of Attraction is the energy around those thoughts got stuck and it is this stuck energy that keeps attracting more of the same!
The only way to truly get real change – in beliefs and behavior – is to loosen up the energy around those thoughts and get it moving again.
Learning how to get your energy moving is the most valuable and versatile tool you can own. Find people who can teach you these tools or find someone to work with you to get the energy moving. When you change the energy around those less than helpful beliefs the results will be that you’ll FEEL differently – and now when you take action from this new feeling place you will see your life take off!
