Energy flows where attention goes. How long can you focus your attention on one-thing? Did you know that single-pointedness clears your mind and helps you feel more stable, powerful and ready-to-go? Do you notice how the world is in a kind of race or competition for who gets the most attention? Who demands the most attention? Who or what gets the most attention? Think about it. Even giving someone negative attention (for example a politician) = given them energy. Whichever politician gets the most positive and negative attention, gets voted. Check this out if you don't believe it.

What is the connection between attention and perception? Well, you only perceive what you give or have given attention to. Retrieve attention from it and it stops to exist...until you put attention back to it. What is the connection between pain and attention? Yes, obviously when there is pain, attention keeps going back to it. But if you have a pain in your arm and I step on your foot, causing a larger pain, the pain in the arm might disappear because you are distracted. Or if you have a pain in your arm and then fall in love, the pain in the arm might disappear because you are distracted. Or if you have a pain in your arm and a nuclear bomb falls nearby the pain in the arm will disappear because you are distracted:-)

But did you know that you have the real capability to dissolve emotional and even physical pain by the proper use of attention? Go to the center of the pain, duplicate it. Then go elsewhere. Then go back to the center of the pain, duplicate it. Then go elsewhere. As you go back and forth in this way you should be able to at least reduce the pain or even disappear it completely. Yes, that is possible. And yes, knowing that can be extremely liberating.
