The Miracle Frequency Of Miracles

What exactly is a miracle?

According to the dictionary, a miracle is an extraordinary and welcome event that cannot easily be explained by natural or scientific laws and is therefore often attributed to a Divine Source. In the Bible, miracles are described as extraordinary acts that reveal Divine power, Divine Love and Divine intervention in the affairs of humanity.

When we bring those two definitions together, we discover something beautiful. Both point towards the same essential truth: a miracle is something greater than what we thought was possible. Now THAT is fascinating.

For many people, miracles seem rare, distant or impossible, reserved for a fortunate few who apparently received the deluxe miracle package when they arrived on Earth. The rest of us are expected to get on with paying the bills and finding our car keys.

But what if miracles are far more common than we realise? What if miracles are not interruptions to life at all, but expressions of a deeper Intelligence already operating within life? Have we ever met exactly the right person at exactly the right time? Received an answer just when we required it? Had an unexpected opportunity appear that changed the direction of our life? Perhaps we suddenly knew what to do when five minutes earlier we had absolutely no idea. Somebody telephoned just as we were thinking about them or something that looked like a disaster at the time eventually led us somewhere magnificent.

Most people call these things coincidences. I call them miracles. And I have had enough so-called coincidences in my own life to know that Eternity has a rather fabulous sense of timing.

Miracles do not have to arrive with trumpets, angels flying through the living room and a booming voice from the heavens announcing, MICHELE, THIS IS YOUR MIRACLE! Although it is rather wonderful when that does happen!

Miracles often arrive quietly. A brilliant new idea can seem to come from nowhere, or suddenly our whole perception changes and we see a situation in a completely different way. We find the courage to take the next step when only yesterday we were frightened to move, or we meet somebody whose words alter the course of our life forever. These moments can look so ordinary from the outside, yet inside us something has shifted, opened or awakened, and life begins moving in a new direction.

We may even discover that the thing we were absolutely certain we wanted would have been completely wrong for us. We can become so attached to how we think our good must arrive that we fail to recognise it when it turns up wearing a completely different outfit. We say, “No, no, Divine Presence. I ordered my miracle in blue.” And Eternity says, “We were all out of blue, so darling, please take the gold one. Trust me.”

One of the greatest miracles of all is the miracle of consciousness itself. The moment we begin to expect good, look for good and become grateful for good, we start noticing opportunities, solutions and blessings that may have been present all along. The miracle was not necessarily that life changed. The miracle was that we changed.

That is worth saying again because it is enormous. The miracle was not necessarily that life changed. The miracle was that we changed.

Our consciousness expanded enough to see what we couldn’t, or simply wouldn’t, see before.

Two people can walk through exactly the same day and experience two entirely different worlds. One notices everything that went wrong, every annoying person, every delay and every reason to complain. By lunchtime they have collected enough evidence to prove that life is dreadful and everybody is an absolute duffer.

The other person sees the sunlight coming through the window, appreciates the person who smiled at them, notices an unexpected opportunity, laughs when something ridiculous happens and gives thanks for being alive. Same planet. Same day. Completely different frequency.

This is why appreciation is so powerful. Appreciation trains our consciousness to recognise the miraculous. We begin seeing what was always there but invisible to us because we were looking down instead of up! And then something very interesting begins to happen. The more miracles we recognise, the more miraculous life appears to become.

Now, somebody might say, “Well Michele, perhaps you are simply noticing more good things.”

YES! That is the point.

Where our consciousness goes, our life follows. If we walk around expecting disappointment, we become extremely talented at finding evidence for disappointment. We could probably win an Olympic medal for it.

However, when we begin expecting Divine order, looking for possibilities and appreciating what is already wonderful, we become available to an entirely different experience of life. This doesn’t mean we pretend difficult things never happen. Of course they do. We are living on Earth, not floating around on a pink cloud eating grapes with angels. Well, some of us are!

Life happens. People can behave strangely and be rather tricky, plans go sideways and things break. We lose people we love and there are experiences we would never consciously choose. The Miracle Frequency is not pretending those things are not real. It is knowing that even within the most difficult experience, there remains within us a Divine Presence that circumstances can never destroy. And from that place, something new can be born.

The miracle is not always being rescued from an experience. Sometimes the miracle is who we become because we walked through it. I certainly know that from my own life.

After my near-fatal accident, I could never have imagined where that experience would eventually lead me. At the time, I was not lying there thinking, “Oh fabulous, I wonder what magnificent spiritual adventure this will produce?”

I can assure you I was not.

Yet from an experience that could easily have ended my life came an entirely different life. Affirmations, music, meditation, teachers, students, extraordinary experiences, travels around the world and eventually the deepest mystical awakening of my life.

Would I have planned it that way? No way Jose.

But that is the extraordinary thing about life. We can’t always see the miracle while we are standing in the middle of the mess. Sometimes we only recognise it when we look backwards.

That is why Faith matters. Faith allows us to say, “I cannot see the whole picture yet, but I know there is a greater Intelligence operating here.” And then we keep moving. We stay awake, we listen, we meditate and we take action when the inner direction comes. We appreciate what is here now instead of postponing our joy until everything looks exactly the way we imagined it to be.

The miracle we have been waiting for may have already begun with an idea, a decision we made yesterday, somebody handing us this book or that glorious moment when we finally stopped trying to become somebody else and discovered the magnificence of being ourselves.

And my darling, we may have experienced thousands of miracles already and simply forgotten to call them miracles. Our beating heart, consciousness itself, Love, our ability to change our mind and the extraordinary way we can laugh again after disappointment are all part of this miraculous adventure of being alive.

Some mornings simply finding the glasses that were on our head the entire time deserves a small celebration. Life itself is miraculous.

So rather than waiting for one enormous event before we announce that miracles are happening, we can become collectors of miracles. Notice them, appreciate them, give thanks for them and, most importantly, become part of the miracle in somebody else’s life.

A kind word can reach somebody at exactly the moment they were about to give up. Encouragement can completely change a person’s direction, generosity can open a door and Love can remind somebody that they are never alone. We may never know how far one beautiful action travels or what magnificent chain of events began because we cared enough to uplift another person.

Now that is a Miracle Frequency worth living in. And when we begin living this way, even reinventing ourselves becomes fun.

Miracles are not reserved for a fortunate few, all those so-called lucky people. They are available to every one of us, and as we recognise them, appreciate them and expect them, we become more alive to their presence. And the greatest miracle of all could be discovering that the Divine Presence, the miracle-making power we have been searching for, has been within us all along.

So open the doors, my darling. Expect miracles, recognise them, give thanks for them and while we are at it, let us go out and BE one.

Despite its Christian terminology, the course is non-denominational, offering universal spiritual principles that go beyond any particular faith.
