The Necessity To Do A Skin Tag Treatment
Written by article3
Skin tags are nothing but small growths that erupt on the skin. They are of the same color as that of the skin. Sometimes they are comparatively darker. The medical term used for skin tags is acrochordon. They hang on the skin by taking assistance from the peduncle, which is a small stalk like structure.
Plenty of factors are responsible for causing tags. Excessive weight is the most typical one. People who are overweight are more prone to having them as their skin has a lot of folds. These folds often rub against each other, thus developing tags in that region. The armpits, the neck and the groin areas are the locations where they usually tend to occur.
Selecting the most suitable skin tag treatment is very crucial. The various doubts that come to the mind of the people having tags, is the main reason behind this. The major issue that people worry about is that additional tags might grow if the ones present are removed. This however is not the case. Some people may be prone to their periodic growth.
The tags do not affect the people who have them in any way. No medical condition is associated with it. Having said that, they are often considered to be a cosmetic problem. The ones present on the noticeable parts of the body, generally appear to be unattractive. The self esteem of the person can also be affected. As this is not a medical condition, the expense involved in the removal is not covered by insurance companies. The person who wishes to get them removed thus has to bear all the expenses. The surgical removal of the tag is thus a lot more expensive. This is the reason why removing them at home is usually preferred.
Though they are not harmful in most of the cases, there have been times when they have been found to be cancerous. In situations like these, their removal becomes necessary. Tags that suddenly become large or start bleeding are possible to be cancerous. Getting advice from a doctor in such times is very necessary. Such tags should not be attempted to be removed at home.
Skin tags are certainly not contagious as opposed to warts. Their occurrence is also not due to any type of virus. It also cannot be transmitted from person to person. The tags sometimes also fall off by themselves. This may be as a result of them getting twisted at the base of the stalk thus interrupting the flow of blood towards them. In the event of something like this happening, no pain is experienced due to the removal.
It is absolutely fine if the tags are not removed, as it is of no harm at all. One should however keep on checking them periodically for the possible development of some kind of abnormality. The ones which are to be removed need to be at examined least once by a doctor. The procedure of removal can then be decided on the advice obtained from the doctor.
