The new face lifted A5 range

It only seems like the other day that Audi unveiled the new Audi A5 coupe, then the cabriolet and then followed by the 5 door fast back. Audi has given the A5 range a face lift, the new models will be ready for delivery by December 2011. The order books for the new A5 and S5 models will open in September. According to Audi servicing and some leaked images the new range of Coupe and Cabriolet models boast re-sculpted exteriors and re-engineering with new infotainment features and chassis modifications. As well as redesigned bodywork the new range comes with a less polluting engine. The new range sees reduced CO2 emissions by up to 22% due to revised engines and efficiency measures. Audi’s aim of the Audi A5 update was to provide efficiency gains without a reduction in performance. To achieve this, two new engines have been introduced, alongside complete redesigns of the other others to include engine start-stop technology across the range and hydraulic steering being replaced by electromechanical unit, which puts to demands on the engine when driving in a straight line. The old naturally aspirated 3.2-litre V6 petrol engine has replaced by a new 272PS supercharged 3.0-litre V6 unit. The A5 has been given a make-over on the inside too; interior revisions include new steering wheels - which include the option for a flat-bottomed wheel - new steering wheel stalks and narrow chrome clasps which frame control elements. The ignition key, selector level for automatic transmission, Audi drive select system and seat heating/ventilation and air conditioning and multifunction steering wheel controls are also updated.
