Kerala is a small state and is located on southern coastal part of India. It is situated along the Western Ghats and has been selected by "National Geographic" as one of the 50 destinations of a lifetime and one of the 13 paradises in the world. Its palm-dotted beaches coupled with woods, forests and abundant wildlife have provided the native community with a wealth of materials from which to create colorful textiles and craft forms for which it is famous today.
Kerala is famous for its cultural heritage. There are many historical monuments, forts, palaces and mind blowing backwaters in Kerala. The state welcomes tourists of all tastes. Kerala is rich in its known spices and wildlife. They all blend together to make Kerala an ideal travel destination. Tourism in Kerala is famous for its backwaters, natural beauty, heritage villas and all natural treatments with its own Ayurvedic treatment and Yoga. Dance is the most popular form of art of the state. They are a combination of folk art and classical dance, along with a mix of martial arts and yoga poses. Brightly painted faces, colorful attire and various unusual instruments are used in the different forms of dances.

Kerala dances include Krishnattam, which is a form of dance drama, and Mohiniyattam, which is a typical dance in Kerala. Every dance has unique attributes. For example, the Mohiniyatta dance is performed at a slow pace. Graceful dancing figures are also carved from ivory and wood, molded from bell metal and carved from stone.
