Are you ready for some no-nonsense talk about beauty? Let's dive right in.
We've all had those moments when we glance in the mirror and aren't exactly thrilled with the reflection staring back at us. It happens to the best of us, whether it's a fleeting feeling or a persistent dissatisfaction that seems to accompany every mirror encounter.
Suddenly, we become critics of our hair, facial features, and every inch of our bodies. It's as if we're never content with the skin we're in, and at times, we yearn for an emergency exit to escape our own scrutiny.
What typically follows is an attempt to make the best of what we've got. Let's face it, we don't have the luxury of hopping in and out of different bodies. So, we embark on shopping sprees, investing in the latest fashions that promise to enhance our figures. We hire personal trainers or join the local gym, although sticking to the diet plan is often a challenge. When all else fails, we're not shy about shelling out thousands for creams, Botox, and other cosmetic procedures.
But here's the kicker: no matter how many compliments we receive about our stunning beauty, we somehow find ourselves right back where we started – in front of that mirror, critiquing, judging, and feeling let down by our own reflection. We yearn to be more like the latest influencer, actor, or even our friends, yet the reality is that they might be grappling with similar feelings.
Let's cut to the chase and unveil the truth about why this cycle persists: We must stop attempting to mask the internal turmoil within us – the feelings, thoughts, limiting beliefs, and patterns that we all suppress. We, just like everything else in the universe, are energy. So, when we don't release the baggage we carry, we end up burying it under layers of superficial fixes, all while justifying why our self-worth should be measured by the latest Chanel handbag.
To truly embody that kickass goddess and look the part, we must confront all those aspects of ourselves that we tend to avoid. It can be an uncomfortable process, sometimes demanding significant changes in our lives, such as leaving a relationship, changing careers, or distancing ourselves from friends who no longer resonate with us.
Real beauty is about embracing your truth – your authentic self in every moment. Sometimes, we find ourselves pretending to be someone we're not, especially when we're surrounded by certain crowds or stuck in a job we despise. This façade can lead to feeling down, prompting us to hide our true selves, ultimately resulting in unhappiness and accumulating more emotional baggage. Eventually, this baggage starts to show in the mirror, reflecting all the falsehoods we've been living.
Don't get me wrong, I'm all for enjoying life's finer things – luxury, clothing, creams, and even Botox. However, these should be extensions of who we are, enhancing our inner selves, not masking them.
Remember, beauty is an inside job.
