The typical mind can easily ask a question with eagerness, but is not really looking for an answer. It is with “wrong eagerness” that it asks. It is truly only eager to give the point of view that it already holds. The question is simply leading to that.

The mind that asks a thousand questions is most often asking in order to announce its presuppositions. This mind values the feeling of “knowing it all,” and yet wants to appear humble. It can actually deceive you into thinking that it’s truly seeking new answers, but “It ain’t.”

The mind that falsely seeks - frantically comes up with solutions before listening for feedback. This is the mechanical mind - it thrives on habitual living. The one thing the mechanical mind cannot stand is newness.

Awareness of this bad mental habit gives you power to break it.
