The Vocal Science™ Method is No Doubt “Sweat and Drench Workout of the Body”… But it is “Music” for the Mind, Soul and Voice.

I am sure, my readers, that you, most likely, are puzzled with the very intriguing title of this blog. What do we mean by “sweat and drench workout of the body”, you may ask?

I have explained in numerous publications that the Vocal Science™ method is a very unique and holistic approach to voice mechanics and the human being as a whole. The physiology and anatomy of one’s physical makeup, in this instance, is literally treated as a person’s “instrument” (in a manner of speaking).

Any musical instrument (before the player attempts to extract the maximum capacity of it) has to be tuned and has to be intact, to say the least.

Unfortunately, majority of our clients do not come to our institution with "very sound" physical bodies; I.e., some of them are not at all fit and practically unable to “walk and chew the gum at the same time”, figuratively speaking.

To restore someone's voice and put it back to balance, takes an enormous effort from me (the voice specialist) and, nevertheless, from the person in question. My method requires a lot of physical fitness, as the restoration of the voice via speaking and singing exercises, is coupled with certain physical movements of the upper and lower limbs.

In order to lift the voice off of the vocal box and off of the vocal cords, I often ask the client to walk towards me on their tippy toes with their arms thrown above their heads.

The above is the ideal position; however, I have a lot of flexibility and alte
atives for those who could not achieve such movements and thus I substitute the most difficult ones (with respect of physical fitness) with much less intense ones.

One of my clients ( granted with a little excess weight) wore a special fitness smartwatch which showed us at the end of the 2 hour session that she achieved four thousand steps throughout the duration of the session.

This provided her, and others, with the perfect fitness tune-up and regimen; and like many others, she said “Who needs go to the gym for a workout after that!”

Indeed!

I’ve seen a lot of “sweat and tears”, so to speak, throughout the many years of employing my very own and very unique Vocal Science method and technique.

Natural selection - the stronger cub may succeed; the week one will never survive.

After the 6 months being by mamma bear's side & learning how to hunt, the cubs will be left on their own...

Mamma bear will walk away in hopes that her cubs had been trained enough by her & could survive on their own without them being by her side.

Needless to say, via "natural selection", the strong ones succeeded; the week ones never did.

Many publications who profiled the Vocal Science™ method, often mentioned that it is “definitely not for the faint of heart”.

I strongly agree with the above quote.

So those who can reciprocate this very disciplined approach, I.e., physically, intellectually, emotionally and vocally, would no doubt succeed with their goal to restore and regain their speaking and/or singing voice and, as a consolation prize, become a much better speaker and/or singer.

Through this regiment, they would also become much more focused, more assertive and needless to say, much more confident...

In Russia , we used to say: In a healthy body lives a healthy spirit.

I always, in the past and present, said that the voice (figuratively, and otherwise, speaking) is your spirit which we have to discover, uncover and "make it soar with the ease of the Eagles" and, nevertheless, address it to it’s aimed destination.

Now the voice is restored and it is, minimum to say, "flying"!

This is becoming to be "music to my ears", as of course, needless to say, the happiness, the confidence, the satisfaction after the hard work conquering the voice issues is overwhelming for my voice repair clients.

Way to go guys!

Majority of them say "Diana, we are forever in your debt as you finally put us back into our vocal shoes"...

They say "We love you!
I say, "I love you more!!"
