These giant aqueous jewels come in many subtle colors

During the mid seventies, Pinctada Magaritifera, the name of the Tahitian oyster, produces the famous black pearl, which later came on to the world market. They had colors of saturated greens with rose overtones and evoke images of romantic beaches, crystal turquoise oceans and tropical sunsets. When worn, they give the wearer a sense of well being and it increases the beauty of those who wear these gorgeous jewels of the sea.

Colors

These giant aqueous jewels come in many subtle colors based on the body color of a blackish green. The basic colors are: peacock, aubergine and pistachio. Other colors such as: avocado, cherry, blueberry, gray-green and silver also manifest from these oysters.

Sizes

The size ranges from 6.0 mm to 14.0 mm. Occasionally an oyster may produce an 18.0 mm pearl. The largest on record as of 1998, is 26.95 mm. As for the shapes of these pearls, they come in spherical, symmetrical and baroque (odd shaped).

Shapes

There is another type of Tahitian pearl known as the circle pearl that has rings around the mid-section of the pearl's body. The oyster makes these rings while the pearls are forming within the gonad (pearl sac).

Necklaces

Champaign, even the rare pistachio and blue. There are many other subtle colors or variations of these. You can also choose multicolored strands. The large variety of shapes of our baroque pearls are sorted and matched to make unusual stands.

These necklaces also come in the new chocolate variety. A lovely graduated Tahitian chocolate pearl necklace of 18 inches has nearly flawless pearls ranging from 10.5 mm to 14.0 mm with a 14 k gold ball clasp. An intricately designed Tahitian pendant of a golden dolphin with a black pearl and a south sea golden pearl attached to the tail fluke and set in diamonds is one of our favorites. A 16.0 mm peacock Tahitian pearl of teardrop shape, with a 14 k gold pineapple crown that caps this south sea jewel is truly sublime. Our beautifully crafted octopus, made of 14 k gold is another one of our best pieces. This pelagic creature grasps a fantastic peacock pearl in its' eight tentacles and has two small diamonds for eyes. This pendant also comes in a large silvery white south sea pearl and a Tahitian chocolate pearl.
