Relatively young Hollywood director Kevin Smith had a brush with death earlier this year; a massive heart attack almost did him in. Fortunately, he’s still with us, and the health crisis puts the spotlight on the notion of prayer.

Another Hollywood star, openly Christian Chris Pratt, star of Guardians of the Galaxy, wrote on Twitter, addressing Kevin Smith, “Praying for you. I will continue to. You inspired me with Clerks when I was a senior in HS…”

Not surprisingly, Chris Pratt received public criticism after the tweet from those who doubt the power of prayer.

One of his followers commented, “WTF is praying going to do? Wise up! He’s in hospital, science is the best place for him, diet change and exercise. Not random thoughts by you or anyone else.”

It’s hip these days to openly condemn prayer and religion. Conventional wisdom dictates that prayer is only for the naive and unsophisticated, right?

Not so fast.

The Near Death Experience Research Foundation (NDERF) possesses the largest collection of NDE’s in the world—over 4000 in more than 23 languages.

Contrary to modern scientific thought, and the opinions of contemporary sophisticates who shun anything spiritual, the massive body of empirical evidence on NDE’s suggests the power of prayer is real.

Jean K NDE 4964, had a near death experience during a severe case of bronchitis. On the other side she saw, “…tiny trails of blue, pink and green lights traveling across the expanse of darkness toward the Great Light.” She wondered what they were, and like other NDEs, instantly had the answer to her question: they were prayers from people seeking the Light. The larger white light trails moving outward from the Light were answers to prayers.

Others who have experienced a NDE have witnessed the same phenomenon. It suggests that thoughts, and especially emotions, are energetically charged and can influence other people. Asking for help from whomever you pray to can make it more powerful.

Surely you’ve experienced the circumstance where you’re in a room full of people and you feel someone’s eyes on you, and either positive or negative “vibes.” Extremes are easier to identify, like the invisible poison darts being directed at you from a secret enemy.

It’s the same way with prayer—your uplifting energy can positively affect other people, no matter the distance between you.

While we’ve always said you can’t cheat personal fate, we firmly encourage you to work with fate, such as with prayer, faith, and gratitude—three of the most powerful tools at the mystic’s disposal. You can use these spiritual tactics to make the most of your life, within the framework of your predestination.

You don’t have to be Christian or religious to benefit from the power of prayer. Prayer and other spiritual practices have existed long before Christianity.

Alternatively, curses, hexes, and negative thoughts toward another can be harmful, and the person doing them generates bad karma. Besides all actions, everything you intend and emotionalize affects your karmic balance sheet. Harshly condemn or censor someone’s spirituality on a public forum or elsewhere? You may have just set yourself up for the same experience somewhere down the line, even if it’s lifetimes from now.

Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn, commented, “I’m not tweeting this to defend Chris…but for me, personally, prayer and meditation are great boons to my life and help me navigate my way through this world, and I don’t want to dissuade others who find those things useful.”

We agree. Even if you’ve sold your soul to dark forces and are too far gone in this lifetime to begin to recover, your guides and angels of the Light on the other side are always waiting for you to ask for help.

Call out to guides and angels of the Light to help you with current and future situations. Ask for help and “the next step.” Repeatedly express gratitude for the outcome you desire, and know that help is on the way. Although you can’t erase karma and personal fate, you sure can make it a lot easier to manage.

Also, by asking for help from those of the Light on the other side, you repel dark energy.

Others may laugh at you for praying or asking for help from those of the Light on the other side. But they will eventually see, even if it’s not until they get to the other side, the power in prayer.
