If you're looking to score with your SEO and PPC efforts, there are three major areas that ANY business can work on -- often at very little cost -- that can radically improve the position of a website in the search engines.
  1. Use targeted keywords: Some keywords will drive a lot of traffic to your site in a short amount of time ? but you won't make any sales as a result. The more specific and targeted your keywords are to your products and the problems they solve, the more likely your visitors will arrive prepared to buy.
  2. Use the same keywords in your SEO and PPC campaigns: Using the same keywords in your PPC ads and in your site copy ? especially the copy on the front page of your site ? is an excellent way to let your visitors know they've ended up in the right place!nn Of course, you'll want to make sure you're not paying the earth for your PPC terms, so make sure the keywords you optimize for fit your budget before you dive in too deep. And, if your website shows up in a PPC ad AND the natural results for a keyword, you're twice as likely to earn a visitor's click!
  3. Make regular updates to the content on your website: Search engines love websites that update their content frequently. And they really love sites that update with keyword-rich content that directs relevant traffic to their door. The key is to keep updating and tweaking and tracking the results... otherwise, you'll never discover what works best for your website!
