Time To Change It Up When You Hit The Dreaded Six Pack Abs Workout Plateau!
Written by Renee' Barnes-Orozco
It’s time to change it up when you hit the dreaded six pack abs workout plateau. Your six pack abs workout program was working - humming along – losing weight – great results. Then you see a couple of pounds creeping up even though you’ve been faithful to the routine! Sounds like you’ve hit the famous six pack abs workout plateau and change things a little.
It’s time to kick your six pack abs program back into action! If you have been doing the same six pack abs routine and diet for the last 4-6 weeks, then it would explain why you hit your plateau. Your body just got used to the same old routine. It’s time to make some changes!
You could bump up your weights or add on minutes to your cardio, but maybe you don’t a huge change just yet.
The put the kick back into your six pack abs program change I’m talking about covers the same amount of time, same weights, but a different process. Once you’re feeling energized, then really change it up if you’re ready.
CHANGE IT UP WITH 2 OR 3 OF THESE SUGGESTIONS FIRST
1. Change the order of your exercises. Same thing but start backwards.
2. Super set your routine with just a 20 second break in between sets. Only take a LITTLE longer break when you really need to. Get right back to work! You’ll be done just a little sooner. Rest up with some yoga stretches to soothe and invigorate your muscles. Or sit in the sauna – or both.
3. Change the angle of your weight lifting, angle of the treadmill, etc.
4. Think about bunching up similar exercises – arms, chests, legs or unbunch them if you were already doing ‘like’ type exercises.
5. You can even lighten up your weight by 5 or 10 pounds (depending on what part of the body you’re working) but increase your number of repetitions before resting. If you did 3 sets of 12 before, do 1 set of 40 or 2 sets of 20. Something like that.
6. When doing cardio, once you’re warmed up, go as fast as you can for as long as you can. Once you’ve hit your limit, slow down back to your normal pace. After you’ve recovered, go as fast and as long as you can again. Then slow back down until you finish your predetermined time.
These are just a few suggestions.
No matter how you decide to change it up, you need to put forth as much ENERGY as you can.
You need to FOCUS on your new exercise variations and not how tired you are or what problems you need to solve. Think about those after.
You just might realize that you weren’t quite so tired after all. You just needed a little change in your routine!
BACK ON TRACK WITH YOUR RESULTS
You may have hit the six pack abs workout plateau, but you’ve taken the time to change it up. You will be re-energized because you made the effort to change it up. You will feel better. Your body will thank you for it. All from these few changes.
Now is not the time to rest, because you’re almost there. Just remember to give your exercise regime variety so you and your body’s muscles don’t get bored. And ask a trainer what you can do to take your six pack abs routine to the next level.
Be Healthy,
