Time to Start Thinking About Mother’s Day
Written by Kathy Mitchell
Moms sacrifice so much for their kids. They truly deserve to feel loved on their special day. This Mothers' Day give her more than the usual flowers. Blooms are beautiful but they are rather cliché. It's time to start thinking about Mother's Day early so that you can come up with a unique idea that will surprise your mom in all the right ways. Consider what she likes to do and what she spends most of her time on. Look into what she might need and what she might want. Below are a few ideas for Mother's Day gifts that you can begin saving up for right now:
1. Custom Family Portrait
A mother's life usually revolves around her family. It is her pride and joy to raise great kids. How about commissioning a custom family portrait in your preferred art style? You could send a photograph of everyone together and have them create a photorealistic painting. It could be for traditional poses with formal clothes. You could also make it a lot more fun and informal. Maybe you could ask for a caricature of everyone using your favorite family-oriented cartoons as the template. You could even include the family dogs and cats.
2. New Kitchenware Set
Does your mom like to cook? How are her pots and pans right now? Maybe she has been using those for many years and it shows in the way they look. The anti-stick coating has peeled off, burn marks are all over, handles are coming loose, covers are cracked, and stains are near impossible to get rid of. Perhaps it's time that you buy her new kitchenware to make meal prep more pleasant. You could also get her new baking tools if she is into that. See what she might be lacking in her collection.
3. Beauty Subscription Box
Help your mom maintain her youthful glow. You could give her a beauty set with moisturizers, lotions, creams, and serums. You could also give her a makeup set with everything that she typically uses. Find a nice brand that suits her skin tone and her style. An alte ative would be to sign her up for a beauty subscription box. She can receive products to try on a monthly or quarterly basis. These can contain brands from all over the world so opening them up is like getting ready for an adventure. They can have a lot of fun trying out different things.
4. Gardening Tools
Gardening became a major hobby among those stuck in lockdown. Many are still continuing with it despite things easing up. Is your mom one of those people? Then you might want to give her a few gardening tools to make her life easier. Look up gardening kits online and see which ones might be suitable for the kind of garden she has. You can even give her seeds or seedlings. Maybe she can grow herbs that can be used for her dishes. Perhaps she prefers flowers, orchids, or succulents. Those who live in high-rise buildings might prefer terrariums.
5. Healthy Food Hamper
Since your mom typically makes food for you, consider giving her food this time around. You could try making a dish yourself but if that seems too daunting, then just lean on the expertise of others. Buy a healthy food hamper online and present the beautifully arranged basket to your mother. This can contain a wide range of goods from snacks to sauces to chocolates to teas. You can get artisanal products that you can't find at the grocery store. Allow your mom to indulge in tasty yet healthy treats that she will surely love.
6. Weighted Blanket with Cover
Is your mom having trouble sleeping? People who don't get enough sleep tend to have low energy during the day. Over time, this can result in health issues. Figure out what might be wrong including exte al distractions and internal anxieties. Help her fashion her room into an oasis that helps her to sleep soundly at night. You might even give her a weighted blanket that is known to lull people into deep sleep fast. Get a weighted blanket with a cover or two to make it easy to clean. Just remove the covers and wash them regularly so you don't have to deal with the heavy blanket itself.
7. Fashionable Blue Light Glasses
If you have a working mom who is always in front of the computer, then you could get her blue light glasses to prevent eyestrain and vision problems down the road. With the blue light filter, she will be able to do more without getting headaches. Blue light can also make the brain overactive at night so it's good to block this for better sleep. Find one that comes in a fashionable frame so that your mom will enjoy wearing it.
