Chain Sprocket hobs are used for in various industry sectors today. This includes their use in farming implements, automobile application and in the film industry. They are nothing but toothed wheels that are mounted on chains with gaps for smooth movement. Roller Chain Sprocket Hobs are supplied as per ANSI, BS, IS or any other standards or with non-standard forms. These hobs are offered with ground or unground profiles and topping or non-topping designs. The chain sprocket hobs can be made of Mild steel, Stainless steel and Alloy steel. Chain sprockets are widely used in bicycles, motorcycles, cars and other machinery.
The involute gear hobs are very popular in heavy industry. Geometrically involute gear hobs can be generated by the locus of the end point of a virtual taut string unwinding from its circular roll. Involute hear hobs are manufacturing by gear hobbing process. The cutting tool is called hob. The hob looks somewhat like a worm gear with non-continuous and hard threads. The contact between two mating involute gear tooth move along a fixed plane of contact irrespective of the centre to centre distance of the gears. Thus involute gears hobs can handle centre shifts or you will get greater assembly flexibility.
The involute gear hobs is one of the most widely used gears in industry. However, the involute gear has a problem of undercut and overheating. Timing pulley hobs started with a trapezoidal shape of teeth, known as the Power grip series. These then gave way to HTD belts, which can transmit much higher power for a given size. Many workshops with hobbing facilities also carry hobs for cutting standard timing belt teeth. Various profiles of timing pulley hobs are rubber timing belt pulleys, polyurethane metric timing belt pulleys, HDT and STD profiles.
For high-torque and high-horsepower applications, the timing pulley hobs advantage goes to the metal pulleys. They offer significant differences in tensile strength and size options, but that is where the benefits end. While the term plastic is used to describe a class of timing pulley materials, it is actually glass filled nylon that is the focus of this article. Nylon is a very tough material and excels at making components such as over moulded timing pulleys hobs.
