If you answer the phone and the caller asks to speak to your mother, you might want to consider voice training in order to add some ‘years’ to your voice. Not that I want you to sound old. I don’t. Good voice training means that you will no longer sound like a teen or pre-teen. Instead, you will sound mature. Not too old, not too young, ageless.

You have a better voice inside. It is just a matter of discovering where that voice is. Located inside your chest cavity, your ‘real’ voice is deeper in pitch and warmer in quality. And, once you find that resonant voice, you will also be able to increase your volume correctly. You will no longer shout or yell to be heard. Instead you will be able to project your voice which is better for your listeners’ ears and easier on your throat!

Unfortunately, many woman (and some men as well) are afflicted with a child-like voice and are indeed well over the age of 21. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be. If you possess a voice that is continually being mistaken for a child, you should make the change because right now your voice is not an asset – it is a liability.

Your voice speaks volumes about you. If you sound too young, it is quite possible that it is holding you back in your career because it is difficult to take someone seriously who sounds like a child. Once you discover your ‘real’ voice, you will find an increase in your self-confidence as well. Were I to poll my clients, they would tell you that one of the greatest benefits of voice training is that they feel better about themselves.

Not only will your voice sound more mature, but your diction will improve as well which is one of the many benefits of allowing your chest to do your talking. You will also find that you will have control over your speed, your volume, and your nervousness if you are doing any form of public speaking.

The benefits of finding your ‘real’ voice, however, go far beyond the voice or presentation skills. My clients have discovered:

  • the best means of eliminating more of the stress they experience on a daily basis;
  • more endurance for physical workouts;
  • better sleep;
  • better posture;
  • the lowering of blood pressure; and,
  • a healthier body.

    All of this is possible just by ‘allowing’ your chest to do your talking! Isn’t it time you stopped sounding like a child or a teenager and discovered the rewards of sounding like the mature person you are?
