Romantic gifts can be especially difficult to choose, as traditional romantic gifts tend to be personal, such as perfume or jewellery – and require you to know your partner’s tastes.

1. Learn from the past

Do you remember a certain gift going down really well with your partner? Was there something which they just had to show off to all their friends? If so try thinking along similar lines – if it was a fragrance, why not get the matching shower gel and accessories, or if it was an item of clothing, perhaps chose something from the same designer?

Often our partners like to drop hints – in the hope that we will notice and buy them something which they desire.
