Top 3 restaurants in the Vatican area, Rome
Written by Pam Peterson
Whilst staying in a Rome holiday apartment one should certainly take the time to visit some of the high quality restaurants in the Vatican are of the city. Below are some of my top choices of establishments in this area.
La Veranda dell'Hotel Columbus
Traditional Italian food lovers will be in their element in this establishment. All of the most conventional Italian dishes can be found on a menu which is extensive yet not overly arduous, and there are also a number of unique dishes devised by the team of chefs in the restaurant who put an intriguing twist on Italian classics. Aside from the food, one of the other fantastic elements of this restaurant is the choice of seating, indeed choosing where to sit can be as difficult as deciding which of the tantalising dishes to sample. You can choose one of the tables in the shaded courtyard or sit inside amongst the elegant surroundings. These features make this hotel restaurant extremely popular and, therefore, booking is recommended.
Da Benito e Gilberto al Falco
This restaurant is a seafood sensation which can be found just yards from the Vatican. Each day the restaurant sources the very best in local seafood which is then prepared in innovative and exciting ways, whilst retaining the classic dishes that have been pleasing guests here since the restaurant was established in the 1970s. This is, and always has been, a family run restaurant, which ensures a warm and welcoming feel, especially as the relatively small capacity is conducive to a cosy and close atmosphere. Being in such close proximity to some of the main attractions in the area it is natural that there is great demand for places here, but having tasted the cuisine you will be pleased that you made the effort.
Osteria dell’Angelo
Many sports people turn their hands to the restaurant trade when they throw in the towel, but not many do it better tha
Angelo, a former rugby player who opened this establishment a few years back. Once you have booked your table here, something that is a must if you are to beat the crowds, you can mull over the huge menu, on which the best features are the hearty main course dishes which are typical of a former rugby player. On the dessert menu, the gently spiced biscuits and sweet wine are certainly an experience to savour.
