Sierra de Perija National Park An additional imposing feature of the Venezuelan landscape, the park gives birth to most of the country's rivers, along with housing some of its most incredible flora and fauna, including Capuchin and Howler Monkeys, and the brilliantly-named Spectacled Bear. Camping below the mountains is permitted. 3. Museo del Arte Colonial Before its liberation by Simon Bolivar, Venezuela endured nearly 300 years of European colonization. Inside the attractive Quinta Anauco mansion sit intricately reconstructed colonial rooms and artifacts, with fountains lining the pristine surrounding gardens. 4. El Teleferico A cable car ascent of 2,585-meter high Cerro El Avila presents breathtaking views of Caracas. There you'll find also fascinating restaurants and bars. 5. Los Llanos Once home to the intrepid llanero cowboys, the wide plains stretch further than the eye can see, and are absolutely transformed because of the changing of the seasons. Throughout the rainy season, much of the area is underwater, with some unforgettable sights available during sunset. The dry season sees the animal population converging with capybaras, jaguars, foxes and crocodiles all living contentedly alongside one another.
