Transformational Income: The Sixth Sense

The Thirteenth principle listed in Napoleon Hill’s classic book, Think and Grow Rich, is known as the Sixth Sense, through which Infinite Intelligence may, and will communicate voluntarily. This is the apex, the top rung, if you will, of the ladder of success outlined by Hill. A word of warning, though: It can be reached – assimilated, understood, and applied – only by climbing the other twelve steps.

You have become what you are because of your dominating thoughts and desires. Every deep-seated Desire has the effect of causing you to seek outward expression through which that desire may be fulfilled. If you are not what you would like to be or if you do not have what you would like to have, you need to change your dominating thoughts and desire.

If you have not mastered the first twelve principles of Hill’s philosophy, you probably have no knowledge and no experience with which the Sixth Sense may be compared. Understanding of this Sixth Sense comes only by mediation through mind development from within. The Sixth Sense is the medium of contact between your finite mind and Infinite Intelligence. For this reason, it is a mixture of both the mental and the spiritual.

The Sixth Sense is that portion of the Subconscious Mind which has been referred to as the Creative Imagination. It is the source of those “flashes” of insight or inspiration that are sometimes called “hunches”.

After you have mastered the Principles of:

Desire – knowing what you want and conceiving a burning desire for itr
Faith – that it will be yours that is so strong that you can visualize yourself having itr
Autosuggestion – feeding your Subconscious on your Desire and visualizing its fulfillmentr
Specialized Knowledge – acquiring the knowledge you need to make what you want a realityr
Imagination – giving free rein to your Subconscious so that it can help you get what you wantr
Organized Planning – the crystallization of your Desire into Action
Decision – the mastery of Procrastination
Persistence – the sustained effort necessary to keep your faith alive and make it stronger
the Master Mind – a group of people to help you plan and keep you accountable
the Transmutation of Sexual Energy – the stimulation of your mind with powerful feelings and energy
the Subconscious Mind – the connecting link between what you want and its reality
the Brain – the Quantum computer capable of creating, exciting, and receiving thought vibrations

you will be prepared to accept as truth this statement:

Through the aid of the Sixth Sense, you will be warned of impending dangers in time to avoid them, and notified of opportunities in time to embrace them.
There comes to your aid, and to do your bidding with the development of the Sixth Sense, a ‘guardian angel’ who will open to you at all times the door to the Temple of Wisdom.

Hill’s language may seem fanciful but there is a power, or a First Cause, or an Intelligence – whatever you prefer to call it – which permeates every atom of matter and embraces every unit of energy perceptible to man. Through the principles listed above, your can induce this Intelligence to aid in transmuting Desires into concrete or material form.

Somewhere in the cell-structure of your brain is located an organ which receives vibrations of thought ordinarily called “hunches”. So far science has not discovered where this organ of the Sixth Sense is located, but this is not important. The fact remains that you do receive accurate knowledge through sources other than the physical senses. Such knowledge, generally, is received when the mind is under the influence of extraordinary stimulation.

The Sixth Sense is not something that you can take off and put on at will. Ability to use this great power comes slowly, through application of the other twelve principles. According to Hill:

“...seldom does any individual come into workable knowledge of the Sixth Sense before the age of forty. More often the knowledge is not available until one is well past fifty, and this for the reasont hat the spiritual forces with which the Sixth Sense is so closely related, do not mature and become usable except through years of meditation, self-examination, and serious thought."

So throw off your sense of discouragement, master your fear, overcome paralyzing procrastination, and draw freely upon your imagination. Then you will feel the touch of that unknown “something” which has been the moving spirit of every truly great thinker, leader, artist, musician, writer, statesman. Then you will be in position to transmute your Desires into their physical or financial counterpart.
