Venezuela attracts Caribbean adventure seekers from all over the world. Most of these visitors find themselves entering the place around Caracas, that is a popular tourist city and houses numerous Venezuela hotels. Listed here are some travel ideas which can be useful for you if you're going to visit the city of Caracas. ·Identification Officially named "Santiago de Leon de Caracas," Caracas is both the capital and largest city of Venezuela, having a metro-area population of more than 3 million. Located in the center of the country's Caribbean coastal region, the city is placed in the Caracas Valley of the coastal mountain range, and is separated by the sea by those mountains. Caracas sits at rather high altitude, with few points in the city below 2,500 feet. The city is one of South America's most cosmopolitan cities, providing a fantastic variety of hotels in Venezuela. ·Getting There Simon Bolivar International Airport at Maiquetia, is the major airport for Caracas and all of Venezuela. Flights to Simon Bolivar airport are the only way to directly arrive in Caracas from abroad. The city is related to the remaining of Venezuela by buses functioning out of Terminal La Bandera and Terminal de Oriente. There also is a rail network that extends across a lot of northern Venezuela that can be accessed at La Rinconada Station. ·Sights Caracas is the city of Simon Bolivar, the Venezuelan revolutionary who personified the movement that set South America free from Spanish rule. The national center of government is centered on La Plaza Bolivar, which is adorned with a statue of Bolivar. Far more appealing is La Casa Natal de Simon Bolivar ("Simon Bolivar's Birthplace"). Next door is located a museum dedicated to the man. Wonderful adventure can be a trip on the Teleferico cable car to the top of Avila, a 7,800-foot mountain overlooking the city. On a clear day, visitors at the top can see all of the way to the sea. The wooden slopes beneath are hosting hiking trails, most of which snake out from the Teleferico station. ·Cuisine No trip to Caracas could be complete without stopping by an "areperas," or an eatery serving the corn meal buns known as arepas. This thick form of cornbread is the staple of Venezuela, and in Caracas it can be found with dozens of various fillings. When the bread is filled with avocado, chicken, mayonnaise and spring onions, it is called reina pepiada. Pabellon criollo is another Caracas classic, being the local take on rice and beans. It consists of a plate of shredded beef, sometimes topped with fried egg, served with white rice and black bean stew.
