Triple glazing is a great way to reduce noise

There are many advantages to windows with thicker glass; some of them are very obvious, and some of them are definitely there, but a little harder to think of. The most obvious advantage afforded to you by double and triple glazed windows is that they are really good at keeping the heat inside your home, which means that you can save an absolute fortune on your heating bills. Because the glass is that much thicker (with two or three panes and a vacuum in between each of them), the heat energy coming from your central heating or fire place does not so readily radiate to the outside; as heat is prone to do when the other side of a surface is colder.

Of course, triple glazing is better than double glazing at keeping the energy inside, but even double glazed glass presents an advantage when compared to single panes. Thinner glass is much more prone to slipping in its frames, which means that there is even more of a draft likely to come in, and even more energy is able to escape.

Because it is so thick, and due to the special way it is constructed, very little sound is able to get in and out of your home, which is great news for those people unfortunate enough to live next door to a noisy neighbour, or who live near to a busy road, motorway or airport. Previously people might have thought that they would have to move to get a bit of peace and quiet, but it can be quite surprising how much of an effect triple glazed windows can have on the levels of noise that are able to enter your home.
