Older adults are more prone to developing back pain. However, this is not something that you have to deal with. There are several ways that you can greatly reduce your back pain.
Use Acupuncture
Acupuncture is another natural treatment that can be used to alleviate back pain. Some suggests suggest that acupuncture may be more effective for alleviating back pain than some medications. No one knows exactly how acupuncture works. However, it may help reduce inflammation. It may also affect the way that the nerves react.
Use a Capsaicin Cream
Capsaicin is the substance inside of peppers that makes them hot. When capsaicin is applied to your skin, it can alleviate pain. You can find capsaicin cream in your local drugstore. It works by reducing the amount of substance P in the body. Substance P transmits pain messages to the brain.
Look for a cream that is made up of at least 0.075 capsaicin. Keep in mind that you may have to use this product for several weeks before you notice the results. However, you should stop using it if your skin is irritated.
See a Chiropractor
Chiropractors can help you get rid of your back pain by adjusting your spine. There was a study done that involved people who suffered from chronic back pain. They were placed into one of three groups. One group received a muscle relaxer, another group received a placebo, and the other group received a chiropractic adjustment from a specialist like Fulk Chiropractic or someone similar.
The results of the study showed that the people who received the chiropractic adjustment experienced the most pain relief. Not only is chiropractic care effective, but it is also safe.
Get Rid of Your Mattress
The mattress that you are sleeping on may be causing your back pain. Studies have shown that sleeping on a medium-firm mattress can help alleviate back pain. A mattress can last for up to 10 years. However, if you have had a mattress for at least eight years, then it is a good idea to replace it. You should also replace your mattress if it is sagging.
Chronic back pain does not have to ruin your life. You can get relief by seeing a chiropractor on a regular basis. You can also use acupuncture and capsaicin cream to get rid of your back pain. Additionally, it may be time for you to get a new mattress.
