Assuming that you are using some techniques to get traffic onto the site, you want to place some advertising there. Adsense is an easy way to start. Place your ads so that people will see them. Do not put them at the very bottom of your site; no one will see them there. Placing them on a side panel, next to your content, is a good choice.

Design your ads so that the background color is the same as the background of your website. Do not place a border around the ad. The idea is to make it look like a typical link that people are accustomed to clicking. Studies have shown that the 336x280 large rectangular ads get the most attention. If possible, use ads this size.

After you have arranged your Adsense ads. Do some research for affiliate products. Good places to find a large selection of affiliate products are Commission Junction and ClickBank. Look for products that are related to the content on your website. Targeted affiliate products will do much better than unrelated products. Develop ads for these products that are similar to the look of your Adsense ads. Again, place your affiliate ads as close as possible to the main content of your site.

Then sit back and work on your traffic building techniques. As more and more people visit your site, you will begin to make money. It will start very slowly at first. But as your traffic increases, you will begin to make money every day. And before you know it, you will be making real money.
