Although the Kumbhalgarh was built in the 15th century, it was developed in the 19th century. Fort Kumbhalgarh was designed by Rana Kumbha keeping in mind the defensive aspect of the fort. KumbhalGarh Fort
Kumbhalgarh Fort is one of the five forts in Rajasthan declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2013. It is located in the Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, 82 km northwest of the city of Udaipur. It is surrounded by thirteen mountain peaks and rises to 1,914 m. The beautiful fort is located in the middle of a forest that has become a wildlife sanctuary. It is the second-largest and most important fort of Mewar, in Rajasthan, after the palace of Chittorgarh. Under the reign of Mewar kings in Rajasthan, the majestic fort was built by Rana Kumbha in the 15 th century between 1443 and 1458, under the leadership of Mandan, a very famous architect at the time. It is named after King Kumbha. Fort Kumbhalgarh was cleverly designed on a hill to provide strategic position to the Mewar kings to protect them from enemy attacks. It is therefore also recognized as the second most important fort in Rajasthan.
