When we talk about colonic hydrotherapy, we are actually talking about complete flushing out of our large intestine by using filtered water. The process utilizes modern, state of the art and safe equipment along with a scope that has a two-way circuit.

There are no issues related to colon perforation because water pressure is minimal.

The filtered water is then introduced into the intestine by using a massage technique and changes in the position so that gravity will also play an important role.

The ileocecal valve will prevent the water from going into the small intestines while the scope with two-way circuit keeps the water levels in proper proportion so as to avoid overfilling.

The process of colonic hydrotherapy is different from enema primarily because enema is primarily operated with the use of gravity instead of utilizing equipment. Because of this, it only reaches through the sigmoid colon and not further.
