Unequally Yoked...
Christian dating can be challenging. Keep in mind what the Lord said "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." (2 Corinthians 6:14-18) This is so important! For the Christian it is very important that our life-partners belong to the Kingdom of God and share the same eternal destiny. The bible tell us that a marrige to an unbeliever will be torment!
I actually dated a guy for eight months who said he was a beleiver, well he wasn't, and it really was torrment. Non-stop Christian bashing, this guy had a foul joke pertaining to God for everyday of the week. You are not immune - "even the smartest wisest people can be led astray from God by unbelieving partners." (1 Kings 11:1-12) 'Do not be misled,' says Scripture, 'bad company corrupts good character.' Many times we desire something so much that, we ignor the red flags that are going off all around us. Worse yet, we rationalize, which in essense, is lying to ourselves. Remember, that if you settle for less tha
God's best, then you will be settling for the rest of your relationship.
Not everyone is designed or destined to be married. It is not upto us, it is upto The Potter to decide how He uses the clay. "
For those who have not been set aside for celebacy or singleness, The Lord has made arrangements for you. He has set aside the perfect partner for your life. The most difficult part for you is to be patient. Many times when God has planned his best for us, suddenly, here comes Mr. Or Miss Right, or so we think....... Stop!?!?!?! Wait right here, now is the time to stop and get with God. Ask His will, His guidance. Remember, "Only fools rush in" "test the spirits". I feel that many times people are set in our paths as distractions to take us, our focus and time from The Lord. "Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven and then all these things shall be added to you." Wow what a great promise! Yeshua said that. I have read a lot of Christian dating articles and what strikes me, is the lack of Christianity in them.
Always base all your life decisions on two main things, God's Word and your conscience, He gave you both to use! Be careful, so many times we settle for someone when we shouldn't.
