United States VS China â The Great Gold Race
Written by Kevin Johnson (OneWorldWeb)
The United States currently owns the largest gold supply in the world with over 8,133 tons of pure gold. In the past few years, we have seen the great American economy fall into one of the worst recessionary cycles ever seen, the Great Recession. Governments from around the globe are flocking to gold in order to protect their economies and citizens with the only currency that holds true value. China in particular stands out as their economy is widely considered one of the most balanced and well-established. Let’s see if we can learn a thing or two about gold investing from the Chinese.
China has the fastest growing gold market in the world as well as one of the largest and fastest growing national economies. The latest economic data shows that China is buying gold at such a rapid pace that they may become the largest gold supply in the world in just a few years. The Chinese government has reported that they plan on increasing national gold reserves by 849% (10,000 tons) by the end of the decade. They are also reporting that they plan on shifting away from US Dollar-backed currency reserves in exchange for gold reserves. China is building its own Fort Knox.
China is buying large amounts of gold in order to protect themselves from inflation and global economic meltdown. The United States’ massive stimulus and quantitative easing measures have created dangerous global inflation as a result of trillions of overprinted dollars. The US Dollar and any assets that are tied to it are losing value by the day while gold continues to increase. Since China is one of the largest holders of US Treasuries, it only makes sense that they purchase gold as their ultimate anti-inflationary investment.
It may be too late for the US economy, yet it’s not too late for American investors to begin protecting their hard-ea
ed wealth with physical gold bars and coins. If the US Dollar does crash, gold could become the next World Reserve Currency. This may lead the way for skyrocketing gold prices unlike anything we have ever seen before. Doesn’t it make sense to own a few gold coins and bars right now?
