Use Effective Natural Home Remedies for Rosacea
Written by Peter Filinovich
Rosacea is a skin disease. It is the condition of redness on skin. The facial skin, mostly the central region like the forehead, nose, cheeks and chin are affected. It usually affects the adults. The appearance is like that of acne.
It is a harmless condition of skin and is not contagious. Rosacea does not spread from one person to another by sharing or using the same objects. But is not a short term problem, it is a chronic disease. The red look is because of the enlarged blood vessels on face. It almost gives an appearance of a person blushing. People with fair skin are prone to getting Rosacea.
The cause may be genetic. Anything that stimulates the blood vessels and causes it to enlarge can flare up the condition. Some factors that can trigger it are alcohol, exposure to sun, wind, spicy food and temperature changes. Stress, anxiety and fear can also aggravate Rosacea. Certain medications can also result in the inflammation of the blood vessels.
The symptoms are primarily red bumps on the face. The nose, cheeks, forehead and chin are commonly affected. Visible red veins, irritated eyes, burning sensation on face, dry and sensitive facial area, swollen eyelids and red patches are some of the other symptoms. If this is not treated, it may worsen and in some cases affect the vision too.
Medicines, antibiotic pills and creams are available for the treatment. For extreme situations, surgery is an option. There are some home remedies which may be followed to prevent the occurrence of Rosacea and give some relief if the symptoms are already present. Some of the home remedies are given here.
1. Oatmeal: Soak oatmeal in water and then apply. This gives relief from the itching sensation.
2. Fenugreek: Include fenugreek in your diet. It can be also had in tea.
3. Chamomile: Pour boiling water over chamomile and strain after some time. Use this for dipping cloth and applying over the affected area.
4. Licorice: Licorice is very beneficial in this condition.
5. Green tea: Green tea is an effective home remedy.
6. Vinegar: Vinegar can cause flare ups in some people, so it is important to test a small area before using it. Dilute the vinegar and use for cleansing.
7. Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera will give a soothing effect when applied.
8. Grape seed: Grape seed is useful since it has anti inflammatory properties.
9. Vitamins: Vitamin B which is also known as Riboflavin is important for a healthy skin. Vitamin C is required to boost the immunity and it also promotes healing.
10. Zinc: Zinc aids in healing of the skin. Try to include zinc in your diet.
It is important to identify the triggers. Some certain food or drinks may cause the flare ups. One needs to avoid the intake of those. Avoid scratching and rubbing your face. Clean it gently. One can use compress on eye if eyes are irritated. Wash eyes and only use mild face care products. Avoid chemicals on the face. Avoid having hot baths as heat can worsen the situation. Eat a healthy diet and exercise.
