Useful Natural Home Remedies for Sciatica

Sciatica is a very serious disease of our nervous system. It characterizes through a severe pain felt along the sciatic nerve accompanied by pain in foot, leg and back.

Sciatica can be caused by the existence of a pressure against the nerve, by sitting on hard and uncomfortable seats, by a disc rupture, pelvis tumors, osteo arthritis, and pregnancy.

The common sciatica symptoms are severe pain in the lower leg, in the buttock and foot, difficulties in moving the leg or foot, back pain, loss of leg and foot power.

Fortunately there are several home remedies that can help the patients to get rid of sciatica. All these remedies have the advantage that they are total natural so they don’t cause side effects and their effects are always one of the best.

A handy remedy for muscle spasms provoked by sciatica is ice pack. Apply an ice pack on the muscle that is in spasm. The ice will make the muscle to numb and it will release the spasm. The relief will come immediately.

The persons who encounter sciatica problems should rest their back and they should avoid lifting heavy objects.

Another very efficient remedy is to bring your hands behind the back and to clasp your hands while you are standing. Doing this exercise you will feel a little stretch in your legs and lower back but the pain will alleviate.

Try to sleep on mattresses that are not too hard or too soft.

Garlic milk is of a great help in curing sciatica. You can use it both cooked and uncooked but for better results it is recommended to use it uncooked. To prepare this remedy you need an uncooked garlic and buffalo milk. Put 4 cloves in 110 ml milk you can also boil the milk with the garlic but the remedy effect is less efficient.

Ergonomic furniture is also recommended for persons that suffer from sciatica.

Heat 3-4 tbsp of mustard oil. Crush 2-3 garlic cloves and then fry them. Mix the fried garlic with 1 tablespoon of omum seeds and then add the mixture in the mustard oil. Let the mixture cool and massage your affected joints. This remedy is very helpful to offer pain relief.

You can also use warm pulp of aloe leaves but you must consider the fact that this remedy has a terrible smell.

Nutmeg is also used as an efficient remedy for sciatica, too. Grind a nutmeg and then fry it in ginger oil until its particles become brown. This remedy can be applied on the painful parts to relief the pain.

Lemon has proved to be a great remedy for sciatica, too. Even if it has a sour taste it has an alkaline reaction and that’s why it is recommended in rheumatic affections and in sciatica. The regular consumption of lemon juice prevents the uric acid from depositing in tissues.

Chamomile is also very valuable in it comes about sciatica. Take chamomile oil and dilute it with vegetable oil. Rub all your painful parts of your body with this oil and you will get a great relief. You can also apply a compress with chamomile flowers on the affected areas. This remedy is very valuable in treating the pain provoked by the sciatica nerve.
